Jewelery Designers Make Spectacular Products For The Silver Screen

Jewelery designers have been asked to submit items of costume jewelery they may have already manufactured for the film industry. Wonderful necklaces, bracelets and tiaras that have had their own starring role and adorned popular film stars are now being sought. Certainly the glimmering range of glitter and bling for the movies are paste instead of diamonds, but they make a good display.

Items by jewelery designers for films are going to be showcased at the Jewelery on Screen trade show at Somerset House on The Strand in London next June as an element of London Jewelery Week. The show has got Orkney jewelery designers considering how a lot of our typical collections ranging from mens Celtic rings to contemporary style pendants could possibly be just appropriate for the movie industry.

The Tudor range, as an example, influenced by the gemstones and superb decoration of the period, is a timeless style for films about Elizabeth I starring Cate Blanchet or Helen Mirren. And our Louise ring could well adorn the ring finger of her namesake in Thelma and Louise, played by Susan Sarandon.

Jewellery Designers in the Movies

One Orkney collection features Birdland necklaces, earrings, brooches and charms depicting birds in flight across a northern sky. Daphne du Maurier's novel, The Birds, however spawned a more terrifying view of these things - not improved by a Hitchcock horror movie starring Tippi Hedren and Rod Taylor! The Heart series links with numerous famous films for example the newly released Crazy Heart with Jeff Bridges. But aside from the romantic Heart there's also Braveheart, who could happily wear a lot of the mens Celtic rings or our Sword kiltpin style and design.

Sword, needless to say was an important element in a good many movies about Arthur, Camelot and Merlin. The well-known Willow design has got the same name as the quest film starring Val Kilmer and Joanne Walley and no one knows what Toad and his chums would make of it in Wind in the Willows.

The present-day piece True relates to many films for instance the kooky True Romance starring Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette or True Grit, the John Wayne or Jeff Bridges rendition. And Chanticleer, based on the saga of a rooster and a fox, might well be a nice pattern for the Fantastic Mr Fox.

There are lots of more blockbusters to choose from that we could provide models to match. Orkney might not yet be on the list of centers for jewelery designers who provide pieces for Hollywood, but a lot of our collections are donned by stars who love our style and design.

Would you have believed that jewelery designers on the remote Orkney Islands off the northern coast of Scotland could have a presence in Hollywood movies? Not only the fairly obvious Celtic rings, but many more items with an original twist.
